Catching up on TV and Award Show Fashions

I'm a little behind on my TV shows, I taped Supernatural last Thursday and watched it over the weekend. Who else is watching this show? I absolutely love it and that episode was really great especially returning after a break with Sam and Dean going undercover in a mental health facility.

Other shows I'm trying to catch up on are: CSI:NY, NCIS:LA, Demons(on BBC) and Medium. Psych will be coming back this Wednesday and I can't wait it's one of my favorite shows. It's so funny.

I'm not a big award show person but I like to check in to see some of the fashions and I thought Halle Berry, Jennifer Aniston and Zoe Saldana (pictures below) looked amazing at the Golden Globes (yeah I know a week behind). I didn't watch the SAG awards which I hate I missed because I wanted to see Betty White being honored.

My Top 3 Best Dressed at the Golden Globes:

I love this dress, it's sexy without being overtly. It's lingerie inspired and elegant and classy. Halle Berry always looks amazing.

Jennifer Aniston

This dress just screams "Eat Your Heart Out" to all her exes. She looked stunning and amazing.

Zoe Saldana

I just love the pretty ruffles and bold color. This dress just seem perfect for her because it makes her look beautiful.

What I'm Reading: The Historian

I consider myself an avid reader and love to read different books. I love to read different genres and I was looking forward to reading "The Historian" by Elizabeth Kostova. I'm currently on the 15th page and so far it's very engaging and makes me want to read more of it. If anyone else had read this, I want to know what you think of it?

About the book:

In this riveting debut of breathtaking scope, a young girl discovers her father's darkest secret and embarks on a harrowing journey across Europe to complete the quest he never could -- to find history's most legendary fiend -- Dracula.

When a motherless American girl living in Europe finds a medieval book and a package of letters, all addressed ominously to "My dear and unfortunate successor..." she begins to unravel a thread that leads back to her father's past, his mentor's career, and an evil hidden in the depths of history.

In those few quiet moments, she unwittingly assumes a quest she will discover is her birthright -- a hunt that nearly brought her father to ruin and may have claimed the life of his adviser and dear friend, history professor Bartholomew Rossi. What does the legend of Vlad the Impaler, the historical Dracula, have to do with the 20th century? Is it possible that Dracula has lived on in the modern world? And why have a select few historians risked reputation, sanity, and even their lives to learn the answer?

So begins an epic journey to unlock the secrets of the strange medieval book, an adventure that will carry our heroine across Europe and into the past -- not only to the times of Vlad's heinous reign, but to the days when her mother was alive and her father was still a vibrant young scholar. In the end, she uncovers the startling fate of Rossi, and comes face to face with the definition of evil -- to find, ultimately, that good may not always triumph.

Skylight One Hanson Hosts 'It's All About Brooklyn!' to Officially Launch the Taste of Brooklyn's High-End Potential Industry

Event to Showcase Select Brooklyn Small Businesses and Introduce a Beautiful, Historic Venue to the Community

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Jan. 20 -- The Skylight Group will officially introduce its new high-end Brooklyn venue to the New York special events industry at a launch party this Thursday, January 21st. "It's All About Brooklyn!" will feature hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts from many local vendors to show traditionally Manhattan-focused event planners the current caliber of the borough's offerings against the backdrop of one of its historical masterpieces. The 15,000 square-foot venue is located on the ground floor of One Hanson Place, a beautifully refurbished residential tower that for years was the iconic and historic Williamsburg Bank Building.

The original bank hall serves as the main event space for Skylight One Hanson. The venue features original details including intricate marble floors, carved teller stations and an impressive 40-foot mosaic of New York as a Dutch colony. It also boasts a vaulted 63-foot ceiling with images of the zodiac in the night sky. On Thursday, party guests will be given a sneak peek into the original bank vault, which provides a modern art deco contrast to the Romanesque space above, and will also be available for events. The inner workings of the vault's jaw-dropping 36-ton doors will be beautifully lit by L & M Sound and Light to enable the NYC event industry to discover a new use for this historic underground space.

The event will showcase some of Brooklyn's finest local businesses, including:

Great Performances, the exclusive caterer for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which sits adjacent to Skylight One Hanson and is best known for crafting food and beverage menus that celebrate the borough's distinctive flavor

Stinky BKLYN, a European-style cheese shop with a serious Brooklyn edge located just a mile from One Hanson

Wine Cellar Sorbets, purveyors that cater to the sweet tooth

Brooklyn Brewery, which started with a stand on the streets of NYC, and is now one of the 40 largest breweries in the country

Cakeman Raven, one of Brooklyn's most cherished bakeries, will provide a custom-designed cake that Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will cut towards the end of the event.

"Skylight One Hanson offers a beautiful event space in Brooklyn's most iconic architectural landmark. Plus, it's conveniently located for guests arriving from the 'outer borough' of Manhattan – and I guarantee that once they see all that Brooklyn has to offer, some of them won't be going back!" joked Markowitz, President of the Brooklyn Borough.

"There is a real demand for special event venues located within architectural monuments both in Manhattan and in Brooklyn," said Jennifer Blumin, President of the Skylight Group. "The space's historical ties to the community make Skylight One Hanson the ideal setting to bring New York's event industry together with the best of Brooklyn's local vendors."

Hairspiration: Natalie Portman

I'm going to be attending an engagement party tonight and I want a simple yet elegant hairstyle. Nothing too fussy or overly complicated. Which is why I love, Natalie Portman's sleek and simple bun. It would be easy to style and it's gives off this effortless look of sophistication and glamour.

It easy to style, with a slight side part and pull hair back in a slight side bun (maybe add a twist or two) and spritz a little hairspray (to keep flyaway in place).

My Life: Volunteering and Fundraising

Sorry about the lack of posts, I was experiencing some technical difficulties and wasn't able to post anything.

So, what have I been up to. Let see for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, I made time to volunteer at a senior center and in the evening I attended a speaker on African-American Artists from past to present at the museum.

A wonderful way that we can embrace Dr. King's philosophy is to celebrate our differences and know that we can learn something from each other. Our life experiences are what makes us unique. The world would be so boring if we all were the same. Maybe it's hokey to feel that way but maybe one day it will happen.

As for what going on with PR, lately I have been focusing on more causes and charitable organizations trying to help raise money for worthy causes. For anyone looking to enter PR, fundraising for museums is a great entry level way to get experience.

Green Girl: Tote Bags for Easy Eco-Living

I just love Tote Bags because they make it so easy to carry all of my stuff. Not to mention great for shopping. Neutral or colorful. Work or everyday use. They work for just about everything.

What I don't love at the moment is the ridiculous price tags attached to some of them. Since people are becoming more eco-conscious and carry more tote bags, along with celebrities seen carrying totes as well, designers want to create canvas bags with a luxury price. Yes, you want a bag that's sturdy but it doesn't have to be super expensive. Below are a few cool totes for easy eco-living:

Merona Printed Canvas Tote $12.99 Target

How to Help: Haiti Earthquake Relief

The earthquake in Haiti is very devastating and heartbreaking, and the people are really in need of assistance. If you are able to send any donations be it financially or by putting together care packages, MSN provided websites and phone numbers (for a full lists from msn click here:), I have included a few below:

** American Red Cross, 800-733-2767
** American Jewish World Service, 212-792-2900
** Beyond Borders, 866-424-8403
** CARE, 800-521-2273
** Food for the Poor, 800-427-9104
** Haitian Health Foundation, 860-886-4357
** Meds and Food for Kids, 314-420-1634
** Rural Haiti Project, 347-405-5552
** The Salvation Army, 800-725-2769
** UNICEF, 800-367-5437
** World Relief, 800-535-5433
** Yele Haiti, 212-352-0552
Wyclef Jean's grassroots org: Text Yele to 501 501 to donate $5 via your cellphone

The U.S. State Department Operations Center said Americans seeking information about family members in Haiti should call 1-888-407-4747. Due to heavy volume, some callers may receive a recording. "Our embassy is still in the early stages of contacting American citizens through our Warden Network," the U.S. State Department said in a statement. "Communications are very difficult within Haiti at this time."

Tips from the FBI to avoid being scamed while trying to donate to the earthquake relief:

* Ignore unsolicited e-mails, and do not click on links within those messages.

* Be skeptical of individuals representing themselves as surviving victims or officials asking for donations via e-mail or social networking sites.

* Be cautious of e-mails that claim to show pictures of the disaster areas in attached files, because the files may contain computer viruses. Open attachments only from know senders.

* Decline to give personal or financial information to anyone who solicits contributions.

* Make contributions directly to known organizations, rather than relying on others who claim in e-mails that they will channel the donation to established groups.

The FBI says anyone receiving an e-mail that appears to be a scam should forward it to this website: www.ic3.gov.

NEW YORK, Jan. 7 -- Amsale, couture bridal gown designer to the stars, is using her design talent to help promote the upcoming release of the new film from Touchstone Pictures, "WHEN IN ROME," a spirited romantic comedy starring Hollywood's newest leading lady Kristen Bell and big- screen sensation Josh Duhamel.

Over the years Amsale Aberra has become the couture designer of choice for numerous films and television shows such as Grey's Anatomy, The Hangover, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and many more. It seems now that word is spreading like wildfire through Hollywood. Why does she think her gowns are such a natural fit for the stage and screen? Whether you're planning a destination wedding in 'Rome' or a backyard wedding, Amsale's elegant and timeless designs will be a sure fit for your dream wedding.

About Amsale:

5 New Year's Resolution Tips for Staying Motivated

by
Style and Focus Lifestyle PR

New Year, New You that's the motto that's out this time of year. Where everyone is so excited and motivated to make changes in their lives. You can't change the channel, surf the net or read a magazine without being bombarded with ads, interviews or tips to help us lose weight and get in shape, stop smoking, get organized, advice for saving money, etc. We start out strong but unfortunately by March or April most of us has lost any motivation to continue. What can we do to stay motivated? Style and Focus Lifestyle PR have 5 simple but effective tips to help you stick to your resolutions:

1. Have Patience. It's going to take time, you didn't gain weight or become disorganized over night. So don't expect to instantly become slim and organized (no matter what the infomercials say).

2. Set Goals. Whether they are short or long term goals, they will help you keep track and measure your progress. For some goals it's going to take hard work and determination to succeed.

3. Have a Positive Attitude. If you think positively about the changes you're making then it's going to make it a lot easier to accomplish your goals. As well as surround yourself with positive people who encourage instead of discourage you, which also makes big difference.

4. Don't Deal in Absolutes. It doesn't have to be all or nothing. So, there is no need to over do it. So what if you weren't able to workout today, there's always the next day.

5. Have Fun. Who says you have to take New Year's resolutions so seriously. Squeeze in a little time for fun such as watching a funny movie, hanging out with friends or going out dancing. By making time for yourself that's not focused on your resolutions, will help recharge you and keep you motivated.

The main thing is keep at it and know that you are making healthy changes to your life.
