E-Mail Question: About Summer TV

I received this E-mail asking me: What're you watching this summer? You have to be watching Jersey Shore? It's like the best ever.

My Answer:

Well, lets see for the summer I've been watching a few new shows: Rizzoli & Isles (I really like this show, yeah it's another cop show but it's really good), Scooby Doo, Mystery Inc. (You're never too old for Scooby Doo and the new series is actually pretty cool), and Unnatual History (it's a smart teen adventure show filled with lots of history). Some of my other summer shows are: Aaron Stone (video gamer fighting international crime), Degrassi (The Boiling Point), Psych (what's not to love about fake psychics trying to solve crimes), Burn Notice, Eureka, and White Collar.

Sorry to say I haven't seen one episode of Jersey Shore. I'm not really into reality show but my cousin is total fan of series. She keeps trying to get me to watch it.

Has Comic-Con Become too Hollywood?

This year the focus seemed to be on all the "celebrities" and whatever project they were promoting at Comic-Con. The convention seems to have lost some of it's laid back "nerdy" appeal and fun atmosphere. Hollywood seems to have taken over. Whereas in the past it use to be a healthy balance between the two sides.

I think it's cool that Sci-Fi/Comic Book movies and TV shows are promoted there but the celebrities shouldn't take away from the event.

What do you think: Has Comic-Con become too Hollywood?

Trend: 20-Somethings Hiring Home Cleaning Services

A way that some 20-something roommates are avoiding arguing over chores is by hiring someone to come in and clean.

This method may avoid some stress for you and your roommate(s) because if you're all too busy to clean, and it's leading to continuous arguments over the forgotten chores. Then this just might work for you.

Before hiring anyone you should know how much they charge, whether they are reliable or not (don't forget to ask for references), you should also know they're cleaning style (do they prefer if your apartment/house is just slightly everyday dirty or a scene from Clean House with stuff everywhere), etc.

Can't afford a cleaning service, just create a chore chart which will keep everyone accountable to their specified chore. Just make sure to change the chart weekly so no one is stuck with all the unfavorable chores.

What Were They Thinking: DC Comics Changing Wonder Woman's Costume

Seriously, what was DC Comics thinking when they decided to change Wonder Woman's iconic suit (above) to the new less than heroic version (below)? As a comic book fan and a fashion-forward kind of girl, I really don't see how putting WW in the new suit is going to generate new sales as well as new fans. The new suit will be featured in Wonder Woman's milestone #600 issue.

(Click image for a better view)

From a business and marketing stand point, the new suit makes Wonder Woman seem boring and less than unique. Where's the selling point? The new design looks like something that could of been a temporary costume during the 80's instead of a new look for the character. Hopefully the executives over at DC will change their minds and go back to the iconic suit.

Not content with just changing her costume, DC also decided to retcon or change her origin story. According to the Wall Street Journal, she will now be an amnesiac refugee from a devastating attack on the Amazonian haven of Paradise Island. Geekosystem.com compares her new origin with that of Superman's.

Here is her new background story (found on geekosystem.com): The Gods, for reasons of their own but which may have something to with their survival and perhaps the survival of Earth itself, have changed the timeline. In the new timeline, years ago the Gods removed their protection from Paradise Island, and left it vulnerable to attack. And attacked it was. Led by a dark figure, a veritable army descended upon the Island, equipped with weapons that could kill even the Amazons. Outgunned, doomed, Hippolyta gave over her three-year-old daughter to a handful of guardians who spirited her away as Hippolyta led one last desperate battle against the forces that had come to destroy all she had created. In that final battle, she and most of the Amazons were killed, though some managed to escape.

What do you think of the new outfit? Love it or Loathe it?
