Trend: Is NYC still a Hot spot for 20-somethings tourist?

by Lifestyle Guru

Are 20-something still traveling to NYC for vacations? NYC is starting to get an "old" persons feel, not my words, but someone that I spoke with via phone. Yes there are new restaurant and new nightclubs opening but it feels like the excitement has worn off for many 20-somethings.

If not NYC then where are they going? The 20-somethings are heading to Las Vegas and Miami. They are the new hot spots for fun, shopping, entertaining and relaxing. Both cities are relativity new with all of the remodeling and construction of new hotels, restaurants, luxury spa, nightclubs. Miami's appeal is the sun and the beautiful beaches for day and the hot bars and nightclubs for the night. Las Vegas is now considered the Adult Playground by some because you can find almost anything to do there.

According to USA Today, 38.9 million tourist visited Las Vegas in 2006 and a projected 39.3 million in 2007. These figures are very close to the estimated $40 million visitors a year to NYC.

I have a friend who is traveling to Miami in April and a group of friends are planning a girl's trip to Las Vegas at the end of the month. A national sorority recently had their alumni convention in Las Vegas last December. Many 20-somethings are planing weekend trips to Las Vegas and Miami for stress relief.

Style Network recently featured two special Star Style shows on Miami and Las Vegas. E! news has the Vegas report reporting on the what happening in Las Vegas for the weekend and a new show reality show, Paradise City.
