Are Anti-Aging Products being over Marketed?

by Lifestyle Guru

You flip through any current fashion and beauty magazine you see ads for various anti-aging products. There are commercials promoting new products daily. Why are we pushing so hard to erase aging? No one can stop the effects of aging, It's something that we will all go through.

This brings to mind an incident, I was standing in a aisle looking for a regular facial moisturizer (hard to find one of those). As I was searching for the moisturizer, I noticed a teenage girl holding an anti-aging serum and her mother (I assumed), told the girl to she doesn't need that she's only 15. The girl proceeded to tell her mom, that's she's the only girl on the cheerleading team not using anything.

At this point, I found a moisturizer around the same time as the mother is telling her daughter that she's too young to be worrying about aging and again telling her she only 15. The girl put the product down and left the aisle with her mother.

As a marketer, I wonder are these types of products being over marketed, because what would make a group of young girls start worrying about the effects of aging? If everyone including marketers and the media pushed that there is nothing wrong with aging. That you don't fall off the planet once you pass the 18-35 age bracket. Maybe scale back on over promoting anti-aging to the masses then and hopefully young girls will not feel like they have to start worrying about aging.
