Food Not to Pass Up: Charentais Melons

A fruit you're probably passing up is the Charentias Melon. It's a small melon (about the size of a grapefruit) with orange flesh that has a sweet honey like taste and a lovely flowery scent.

Historically it's the true version of the cantaloupe that is eaten in Europe. You should be able to find it in your local grocery store, if not buy at your local farmer's market. It's certainly worth giving it a try. It also make a romantic treat for two on a picnic or as a party appetizer, sliced and wraped with prosciutto.
