What Happened To The News?

by Lifestyle Guru

The news, both local and national has turned from reporting important information to reporting about celebrity gossip, being biased and showing truly negative news. The constant attention given to Anna Nicole Smith was excessive, there are other things going on in the world and to devote that much time to her was just too much in my opinion.

It has also been noted that when someone who is missing is Black, Hispanic, Asian or another ethnicity they are rarely shown on national news. If not for the constant efforts of family members and friends of the victims then they might not garner any national attention. This issue has been a topic on some TV shows such as Without a Trace and CSI: Miami.

I understand that there is not enough time to devote to people that are missing on the national news, but I just don't think it's right to focus so much attention on some and not others. Are some lives more of value than others?

Why isn't there a nationally aired TV show that focus on the missing? This could give families a way to let people know that their family member is missing. Kidnaped victims have been found in other states.

I once read an article about how there is no profit in reporting positive and inspirational news. What sells is sensational and negative news, which is why the last few minutes are used to showcase any quirky or positive news.
