Style and Focus News Bites

** January was a slow month for South Florida tourism. According to the Miami Herald, The 2007 tourism season started slowly in South Florida, with hotel occupancy rates and traffic through at least one airport down in January.

** Suze Orman’s latest book “Women & Money,” broke into the top 10 business titles at Barnes & Noble online the final week of December.

** Limited to Shrink Apparel And Grow Victoria's Secret. On the agenda for 2007: more downsizing in the apparel division and aggressive expansion for Victoria's Secret, along with moderating inventory levels after last year's fourth-quarter buildup (WWD).

** Gap is cutting Marketing, stores and courting older shoppers. Thursday continued the downward slide, with a reporting of a 35 percent drop in earnings and 7 percent decline in comparable store sales in the fourth quarter, and then making it clear to investors there is a long recovery road ahead.

** Vanessa Minnillo Signs With Flirt! Cosmetics as 'Guest Creator' for 2007.

** Carlos by Carlos Santana Footwear Kicks Off Celebrity Shoe Auction to Improve Women's Heart Health. The Red Shoe Celebrity Auction, an online auction of celebrity-autographed footwear to benefit several health organizations.
