Do Celebrities Get Special Treatment?

After some recent events, the question that's floating around is: Do Celebrities Get Special Treatment?

Before I answer that I feel like there are three types of celebrities. The first type use their status to benefit others such as Bono, Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres and Rachel Ray. They help raise money and awareness for causes and people in need.

The second type does things to benefit charities but prefer to not be in the spotlight. They want to stay private and just promote their craft but not themselves such as Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Cynthia Nixon and Angela Bassett. The third type use their status to benefit only themselves and I don't need to mention their names.

Now to answer that question Do Celebrities Get Special Treatment? Yes, but many use their special treatment in a good way by putting a spotlight on various issues such as George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio and Nicole Kidman. Yes, they get sent tons of freebies such as clothes, cars, trips but that's also budgeted marketing from those companies hoping that if the celeb is photographed wearing their item or attending their restaurant they will get more press and customers.

Also, many non-celebrities receive special treatment such as nightclub regulars not having to stand in line, restaurant regulars getting the best tables, popular shoppers getting invites to trunk shows and samples sales and many more examples.

However, the problem comes with special treatment dealing with the law. The average citizen wants the celebrity to be treated as they would be with issues pertaining to the law. Many feel like the celebs get a slap on the wrist such as underage drinking, DUI's, drugs, you name it. They want to feel like justice is fair for all.
