Gap Takes a Piece of Its Downtown Los Angeles Denim Studio on the Road

Straight from West Pico Boulevard, 'Pico de Gap' Serves Up Unique Tacos From Local Chefs and a Dose of Premium Denim

SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 10, 2011 -- Inspired by a late night team dinner at a food truck in Los Angeles, Gap is taking the vibe of its denim design studio on the road with a custom vintage taco truck. Launching today in four markets, Pico de Gap will serve custom menus exclusively "designed" by local chefs, including best-selling author Katie Lee in New York, Top Chef's Marcel Vigneron in Los Angeles, Top Chef's Ryan Scott in San Francisco, and Rick Gresh of David Burke's Primehouse in Chicago.

While food trucks have become a coast-to-coast craze, boasting everything from sushi and dumplings to street sweets and schnitzel, Gap is sticking with the "original" food truck that started the now nationwide trend. "The idea of Pico de Gap—and the taco truck used in our fall campaign 1969: L.A. and Beyond—came about one night when I was having dinner with our 1969 design team in downtown L.A.," said Seth Farbman, Gap's Chief Marketing Officer. "It's these types of everyday moments that shape who we are as people and inspire the product we design for our customers. We thought it would be an unexpected, engaging way to share a little more about ourselves and the experience we had that night."

To create an authentic aesthetic, each Pico de Gap truck was hand-painted and includes a replica of a vintage Gap ad and neon sign from the '70s. Customers can check out the latest 1969 fall denim styles on display while enjoying tacos for a $1.69. With proof of a same-day Gap denim purchase, the meal is free. Additionally, every customer will receive a coupon for $20 off their next Gap 1969 denim purchase and some lucky patrons will even receive a special coupon redeemable for a free pair of Gap 1969 jeans up to $90.00.

Gap's 1969 fall collection continues to demonstrate its commitment to bringing the same premium fabrics and fits as other premium denim brands at a much more accessible price point. Signature fits for women include the Legging Jean, High Rise Pintuck Trouser and Skinny Boot, while signature fits for men include the Drop Crotch Skinny, Slim Trouser and Slouchy Slim Rocker.

Pico de Gap Chefs

Fashion and food guru Katie Lee will satisfy New Yorkers with her broad range of culinary experiences, from serving as the food and lifestyle correspondent for the CBS Early Show to writing culinary features for an array of magazines. "Mexican culture and cuisine gets my creative juices flowing, so I can't wait to bring my spin on popular south-of-the-border flavors to the Pico de Gap truck! From food to fashion, my personal philosophy is all about the three C's: casual, comfortable, with a touch of couture—and Gap 1969 denim totally fits my style. I'm thrilled to collaborate with Gap to bring a fun and delicious taco menu to the streets of New York City," said Lee.

On the West Coast, Top Chef runner-up Marcel Vigneron of The Bazaar is the innovator behind the Los Angeles truck's imaginative cuisine. "Gap's 1969 line is all about classic American style – fresh, colorful and cool. That's what a taco truck is too—it's a mobile fiesta, a celebration of social eating, amazing food, and our melting pot of culture," said Vigneron. "I'm excited to showcase a more casual flare of cooking to the public, especially when it's at the helm of a cool taco truck!"

Additional Top Chef alum and restaurateur, Ryan Scott, will satiate the fashion foodies of San Francisco bringing expertise from his very own food truck 3-Sum Eats. One of Scott's delicious creations will consist of mole-braised brisket, pumpkin seeds, red onion marmalade, queso fresco and Mexican chocolate vinaigrette.

Culinary mastermind Rick Gresh, executive chef of David Burke's Primehouse, will bring his creativity and profound knowledge of fine cuisine from the dining room to the streets of Chicago. Patrons can indulge in a savory feast from a menu that includes farmer's market queso fundido and dry aged steak, chicken chorizo and pork belly tacos.

Each Pico de Gap truck will stop by music events, nightlife hotspots, festivals, farmers' markets and select Gap stores. To find out where the truck will head next, patrons can track the specific locations daily by following Pico de Gap on Twitter: Los Angeles (@picodegapLA), San Francisco (@picodegapSF), New York (@picodegapNY) and Chicago (@picodegapChi) and by visiting Gap's Facebook page: Facebook.com/gap.

JCPENNEY DEMONSTRATES THE POWER OF A PENNY TO SUPPORT LOCAL YOUTH

Company Launches “pennies from heaven” to Inspire Donations for Afterschool

Cause Marketing Campaign Debuts with Innovative Digital Experience and Backing from Design Partners Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen

PLANO, Texas (July 20, 2011) — J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) today announced that it is launching an inspiring new philanthropic initiative that invites customers in over 1,100 stores to turn small change into “pennies from heaven” by rounding up their purchases and donating the difference to life-enriching afterschool programs. For more than a decade, JCPenney has been the leading corporate advocate for the afterschool issue by distributing more than $100 million across every jcpenney community. To bolster support for the afterschool movement, jcpenney will unveil its most extensive cause marketing campaign to date. Serving as the Company’s signature cause-related event, pennies from heaven will be held four times a year starting July 31 through Aug. 27 during the Back-to-School season.

“Compelling national research reveals that one in four students in America is unsupervised between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. each day. This represents more than 15 million kids who could benefit from the academic and social development opportunities that afterschool programs provide,” said Mike Theilmann, group executive vice president for J. C. Penney Company, Inc. and chairman of J.C. Penney afterschool. “With communities facing severe cuts in education and school resources, there’s never been a more important time to raise awareness of the afterschool issue and get our customers involved in helping to narrow the education gap.”

Marketing that Inspires Change
As the largest cause marketing initiative JCPenney has ever launched, pennies from heaven will have a prominent role in the Company’s overall back-to-school promotions. Created in collaboration with Momentum Worldwide, Saatchi & Saatchi New York and 360i, pennies from heaven leverages multiple touch points to engage the hearts and minds of American consumers. National and Hispanic advertising, which utilizes broadcast, print and online media, showcases youth in afterschool programs through themed ads representing “pennies for art,” “pennies for science” and “pennies for music” -- demonstrating the power of a penny to create new opportunities for learning. Promotions for pennies from heaven will run as an integral component to jcpenney’s Back-to-School “Daydreamer” campaign, which features dream-inspired doodles to reveal kids’ inner aspirations -- reinforcing the notion that through a collective call to action, jcpenney and its supporters can help shape the future for millions of America’s youth.

Purse for a Cause
Olsenboye designers Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen are lending their support to the initiative by releasing a limited edition change purse available exclusively at jcpenney. Each purse will sell for $9.99 and 100 percent of the sale proceeds will be donated to the pennies from heaven campaign. “Every child should have the opportunity to be part of a positive and nurturing environment after school,” said Ashley Olsen. “Through the purchase of an Olsenboye change purse, customers can help support afterschool programs and impact a child’s life,” added Mary-Kate Olsen.

Generating Virtual Pennies for Real Donations
Prior to the official launch in stores, customers will be able to collect virtual pennies as part of a fun, interactive experience on jcp.com/pennies. This new microsite serves as a personalized social hub for supporters to learn more about the issue and get involved through various online activities that trigger a donation to afterschool programs. Once users collectively generate 100 million virtual pennies, jcpenney will donate $1 million to the afterschool cause. Elements of the pennies from heaven online challenge include:

■ sending a “lucky penny” to friends on Facebook using a customized application;
■ watching the pennies from heaven commercial video;
■ downloading the pennies from heaven ringtone;
■ liking JCPenney on Facebook or following JCPenney on Twitter and;
■ checking into a JCPenney store on Foursquare.

About jcpenney’s commitment to afterschool:

As the leading corporate advocate for the afterschool issue, JCPenney partners with leading afterschool organizations to make life-enriching afterschool programs accessible for working families. Through its legacy of supporting youth and charitable organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the Y, National 4-H, United Way and FIRSTâ Robotics, JCPenney formalized its commitment to the afterschool cause by establishing the jcpenney afterschool fund, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since its inception, more than $100 million has been distributed to afterschool programs across every JCPenney community thereby making it possible for more kids to spread their wings. Press Release: Spring Essentials from the Runway to Your Closet

Prime Outlets Presents the 2010 Ultimate Guide to Spring Fashion Savings

BALTIMORE, March 8 -- Prime Outlets has partnered with stylist James Aguiar to show frugal fashionistas across the country how to take high-end designer looks from the runway to every day while shopping on a budget this spring season.

According to Aguiar, fashion expert and host of "Full Frontal Fashion," "Where D'Ya Get That?" and "Style Court," femininity is the inspiration behind many of this year's top spring trends.

"Classic, feminine sophistication is an underlying trend for many of the season's hottest looks," said Aguiar. "From soft, inviting colors to alluring ruffled detailing, the runways were filled with chic, elegant refinement."

Prime Retail's Senior Vice President of Marketing Karen E. Fluharty says that Prime Outlets teamed up with fashion expert Aguiar to show women how to work trends from the runway into their everyday wardrobes.

"Regardless of improving economic conditions, shoppers want to buy quality merchandise from leading designer and top brand-names at unbeatable prices," said Fluharty. "The outlets are the venue where they can access the spring fashion season's must-have items while remaining within budget."

At everyday savings of up to 65 percent off full retail prices, Prime Outlets' shoppers have complete access to style icons including Gucci, Michael Kors, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Gap, Coach, Victoria's Secret, Tory Burch, Polo Ralph Lauren and Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, among many others.

For a fresh, right-off-the-runway look sure to turn a few heads this season Aguiar and Prime Outlets suggest the following Spring Essentials fashion tips:

Ravishing Ruffles - No longer considered overtly girly, ruffles are the accent piece of the season. Embrace this flirty trend by choosing a tiered, ruffled skirt or blouse with a soft ruffled accent. Maintain balance to your look by pairing ruffled pieces with tailored, structured pieces such as skinny jeans or a pencil skirt. Remember ruffles add volume so be sure to choose pieces strategically to highlight areas of your body you wish to emphasize.

Neutral Knock-out - Elegant, soft and subtle, neutral shades including champagne, blush, beige, grays and putty color tones are a huge trend this spring. Pair nude dresses, particularly popular when it comes to achieving this pared-down look, with a delicate muted cardigan or jacket. The key to this classic, barely there trend is keeping it simple with pale layers and minimal jewelry, accessories and make-up.

Peek-a-boo Pieces - Ever-fashionable and chic, working demure cut-out pieces into your wardrobe will add a subtle sexiness to any look. Edgy fashionistas should look for dresses with keyhole accents along the torso or back while those less daring may opt for cut-out accents or sheer inserts along the neckline or sleeves.

Spring Satchel - Brightly-colored, large handbags and satchels are a must this spring. Look for one-of-a-kind, stylish workhorse bags that will take you from the office, to shopping, to a weekend getaway. Choose bags with ornate embellishments and hardware that are sure to make a statement.

Flirty, Full and Fabulous - Short, full, just-above-the-knee skirts are all the rage this spring season. To pull off this effortlessly chic look, pair a short, full skirt with a fitted blouse, tight blazer or cropped jacket. In the early spring, pair skirts with black or colorful tights and heels for a relaxed, youthful look.

Check out www.primeoutlets.com/spring for videos of this season's hottest must-haves from James Aguiar and Prime Outlets.

Skylight One Hanson Hosts 'It's All About Brooklyn!' to Officially Launch the Taste of Brooklyn's High-End Potential Industry

Event to Showcase Select Brooklyn Small Businesses and Introduce a Beautiful, Historic Venue to the Community

BROOKLYN, N.Y., Jan. 20 -- The Skylight Group will officially introduce its new high-end Brooklyn venue to the New York special events industry at a launch party this Thursday, January 21st. "It's All About Brooklyn!" will feature hors d'oeuvres, drinks and desserts from many local vendors to show traditionally Manhattan-focused event planners the current caliber of the borough's offerings against the backdrop of one of its historical masterpieces. The 15,000 square-foot venue is located on the ground floor of One Hanson Place, a beautifully refurbished residential tower that for years was the iconic and historic Williamsburg Bank Building.

The original bank hall serves as the main event space for Skylight One Hanson. The venue features original details including intricate marble floors, carved teller stations and an impressive 40-foot mosaic of New York as a Dutch colony. It also boasts a vaulted 63-foot ceiling with images of the zodiac in the night sky. On Thursday, party guests will be given a sneak peek into the original bank vault, which provides a modern art deco contrast to the Romanesque space above, and will also be available for events. The inner workings of the vault's jaw-dropping 36-ton doors will be beautifully lit by L & M Sound and Light to enable the NYC event industry to discover a new use for this historic underground space.

The event will showcase some of Brooklyn's finest local businesses, including:

Great Performances, the exclusive caterer for the Brooklyn Academy of Music, which sits adjacent to Skylight One Hanson and is best known for crafting food and beverage menus that celebrate the borough's distinctive flavor

Stinky BKLYN, a European-style cheese shop with a serious Brooklyn edge located just a mile from One Hanson

Wine Cellar Sorbets, purveyors that cater to the sweet tooth

Brooklyn Brewery, which started with a stand on the streets of NYC, and is now one of the 40 largest breweries in the country

Cakeman Raven, one of Brooklyn's most cherished bakeries, will provide a custom-designed cake that Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz will cut towards the end of the event.

"Skylight One Hanson offers a beautiful event space in Brooklyn's most iconic architectural landmark. Plus, it's conveniently located for guests arriving from the 'outer borough' of Manhattan – and I guarantee that once they see all that Brooklyn has to offer, some of them won't be going back!" joked Markowitz, President of the Brooklyn Borough.

"There is a real demand for special event venues located within architectural monuments both in Manhattan and in Brooklyn," said Jennifer Blumin, President of the Skylight Group. "The space's historical ties to the community make Skylight One Hanson the ideal setting to bring New York's event industry together with the best of Brooklyn's local vendors."

Couture Bridal Gown Designer to the Stars, Amsale to Help Promote New Movie "When in Rome"

NEW YORK, Jan. 7 -- Amsale, couture bridal gown designer to the stars, is using her design talent to help promote the upcoming release of the new film from Touchstone Pictures, "WHEN IN ROME," a spirited romantic comedy starring Hollywood's newest leading lady Kristen Bell and big- screen sensation Josh Duhamel.

Over the years Amsale Aberra has become the couture designer of choice for numerous films and television shows such as Grey's Anatomy, The Hangover, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and many more. It seems now that word is spreading like wildfire through Hollywood. Why does she think her gowns are such a natural fit for the stage and screen? "I think that my gowns naturally lend themselves to telling a story. They all have an element of fantasy to them, but at the same time they are believable. They are modern classics that make sense for real brides to wear," says Amsale.

Amsale is also partnering with Disney and Robbins Brothers in the "Engagement of Dreams" contest. Visit www.amsale.com to learn how you can win your very own Amsale wedding gown. Whether you're planning a destination wedding in 'Rome' or a backyard wedding, Amsale's elegant and timeless designs will be a sure fit for your dream wedding.

About the Movie:

An ambitious young New Yorker disillusioned with romance, takes a whirlwind trip to Rome where she defiantly plucks magic coins from a fountain of love, inexplicably igniting the passion of an odd group of suitors. But when a charming reporter pursues her with equal zest, how will she know if his love is the real thing? "WHEN IN ROME" is rated PG-13 and opens nationwide on Jan. 29.

About Amsale:

Amsale's elegant designs have made her one of the most sought after couture wedding gown designers in the United States. She is the creative director of the Amsale, Kenneth Pool and Christos bridal collections, the Amsale Bridesmaids collection and Amsale Presents the Little White Dress collection. Amsale has also gained a strong celebrity following for her evening wear, as seen on screen, editorially and on the red carpet on stars such as Jennifer Garner, Halle Berry, Kate Hudson, Julianna Margulies, Diane Lane and Vanessa Williams.

Give the Gift of Life This Holiday With Fashionable Medical ID Jewelry

-Lauren's Hope Says Vanity Is No Reason to Risk a Life-

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 14 -- It's statistically proven that medical identification (ID) tags save lives. Medical ID tags should be worn by the millions of people suffering from chronic conditions like diabetes, cardiac issues, asthma, allergies and other conditions that require special medical treatment. Yet only a small percentage of Americans with chronic conditions actually wear medical ID tags because either they don't want to emphasize their medical condition or the traditional, clunky medical ID tags don't fit their personal style.

Lauren's Hope creates fashionable jewelry that allows its customers to choose bracelets, necklaces, watches and other jewelry that is stylish and discreet enough to fit your own personal style, while communicating important medical information in case of an emergency. Lauren's Hope offers chic medical ID jewelry for men, women and children of all ages and styles, from elegant to funky to sports-themed jewelry. Lauren's Hope offers gift wrapping and guaranteed shipping by Christmas if ordered by Dec. 22.

"Despite the fact that our customers are so appreciative when our jewelry makes the difference in an emergency, we also understand that sometime people prioritize vanity over safety when it comes to wearing medical ID tags," said Denise Gaskill, marketing director and co-founder of Lauren's Hope. "That's exactly why we offer stylish medical ID jewelry that people actually want to wear. We have the perfect holiday gifts for your mother, child or friend that can fit their personal style, while giving you the peace of mind that you may help save their life."

Lauren's Hope guarantees shipment in time for Christmas, and offers a "Wish List" feature if you are hoping to receive a Lauren's Hope medical ID yourself! To order Lauren's Hope Medical ID jewelry for your loved one, go to www.LaurensHope.com or call 1-800-360-8680.

About Lauren's Hope

Founded in 2001, Lauren's Hope provides fashionable medical ID jewelry for men and women of all. Started when the cofounders' young friend, Lauren, refused to wear a medical ID tag for her type 1 diabetes because "they're ugly and draw attention to my illness," the company has been going strong ever since, with thousands of testimonials from customers who wear their jewelry with pride and have seen the life-saving benefits of their Lauren's Hope Jewelry.
