I am so excited and I can't wait until I can go and buy these 3 DVD: Underworld Awakening, Red Tails and The Woman in Black.

Movie I'm Excited to See: Underworld: Awakening
Lately, there haven't been too many movies that I really want to see but I really can't wait to see "Underworld: Awakening". This looks like it's going to be really great. It's not released until January 20, 2012, so I will just have to wait.

News Bite: Man of Steel Pushed Back Until Summer 2013

Warner Bros. Pictures has announced that Zack Snyder's Superman movie Man of Steel will be released in theaters on June 14, 2013 and not in December of 2012 as was previously believed.
No other films have been scheduled for that date yet.
Written by David Goyer and Jonathan Nolan, the anticipated film stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix.

On a side note: I have no real desire to see this film. As a Superman fan, I'm just not interested in going to see it because for one reason the casting seems really random. Like they just pulled the names out of a hat. There also seems to be rumored problems with the script and everything just seems a little rushed. It's like they were trying too hard to hype this film up already.

Are Anne Hathaway and Amy Adams Miscast in the New DC Comics Superhero Movies?
Update: Man of Steel will not hit theaters until Summer 2013
Anne Hathaway has mixed opinions from Batman fans regarding her for the role of Selina Kyle/Catwoman in "The Dark Knight Rises". Many think that she was miscast and only got the role because she was "Who's Hot" in Hollywood, which is similar to what fans are saying about Andrew Garfield who will be starring as the new "Spider-Man" in theaters next year. Below see trailer for Catwoman in the upcoming "Batman: Arkham City" game.
Will it be a much harder sell, to see Amy Adams as Lois Lane in the "Man of Steel". Will she be able to pull off the role as the hard hitting reporter with so many of the disgruntled Superman fans thinking she's not the best actress and doesn't have the right look (regardless of her hair color). When "Superman Returns" was being cast fans also had a problem with Kate Bosworth getting the role of Lois Lane and according to most fans is considered to be the worst Lois Lane to date.

Hollywood, What's With All The Remakes?

What happened to all the creative minds in Hollywood? Have they run out of ideas? Why not give some of the new writers' ideas a chance before you decide to rehash old TV shows and movies, case in point: Wonder Woman, Charlie's Angel, 21 Jump Street, Hawaii Five-0, Dallas, Footloose, Yogi Bear, Smurfs and most recently The Green Hornet. With all the remakes it shows a total lack of inspiration and creativity circulating throughout Hollywood.
Is it so hard to give the viewers something new to see?

Which Movie Do You Want To See: Kick-Ass, The Losers or The A-Team
Which of these movies are you hyped up for? Kick-Ass, The Losers or The A-Team.
Out of the three I think the one I really want to see is The Losers. The trailer really has me interested and it looks really good. The Losers is based on a comic book series published by DC comics. It seems like it has a good balance of action, drama and comedy plus a great selection of actors.
For Kick-Ass I'm not really sure about that one. Nerds attempting to become superheroes. I think I'll just stick to watching the nerds on The Big Bang Theory instead.
The trailer for The A-Team doesn't really seem that interesting at least to me. It seems like it's lacking the charm that the original 80's TV series had as well as the actors seem like a total miscast. It seems more like they're focusing more on the action than the acting, I could be wrong and this could be really good. I guess I will have to wait until June to see. A fun bonus is two of the original actors Dirk Benedict and Dwight Schultz (Face and Murdock) will have cameos in this movie.

Movie Bowl Not Super Bowl Party
Hi, I hope everyone had a great weekend.
Who watched the Superbowl? Well.........I didn't. My friends and I decided to have a Movie Bowl instead. I'm not sure who came up with the idea but we all just decided we'd would rather watch a few movies, eat good food (including lots of desserts) and have fun. So, we put the movies in four categories: Best Fashion, Inspirational, Best Vampires and Epic Sci-Fi Battles. After each set of movies, we voted and the winners got small gifts (for $10 or less) like lip gloss, hand lotions, nail polish, bracelets, etc.
Best Fashion:
Sex and the City vs Devils Wears Prada
Winner: Sex and the City
Inspirational:
The Last Holiday vs Julie & Julia
Winner: Tie
Best Vampires:
Underworld vs Twilight
Winner: Underworld
Epic Sci-Fi Battles:
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith vs Star Trek (the new one)

Since the early 1990s, more than 80,000 Chinese children have been adopted abroad, the majority to the United States. The conventional wisdom is that the babies, mostly girls, were abandoned by their parents because of the traditional preference for boys and China's restrictions on family size. No doubt, that was the case for tens of thousands of the girls.
But some parents are beginning to come forward to tell harrowing stories of babies who were taken away by coercion, fraud or kidnapping -- sometimes by government officials who covered their tracks by pretending that the babies had been abandoned. Parents who say their children were taken complain that officials were motivated by the $3,000 per child that adoptive parents pay orphanages.
"Our children were exported abroad like they were factory products," said Yang Libing, a migrant worker from Hunan province whose daughter was seized in 2005. He has since learned that she is in the United States.
** According to TV blog insiders, numerous fans of CW's Supernatural (which stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles) are upset and may boycott the upcoming 5th episode that will feature Paris Hilton. Upset that the show will include her instead of an actress who is actually know for her acting abilities is the general consensus of many of the complaints. While others (including non fans of the series) are planning to watch just to see her killed off (many hope in a gruesome way).
** Disney Faces Rights Issues Over Marvel. According to the New York Times, Walt Disney’s proposed $4 billion acquisition of Marvel Entertainment may come with a headache: newly filed claims challenging Marvel’s long-term rights to some of its superhero characters. Heirs to the comic book artist Jack Kirby, a creator of characters and stories behind Marvel mainstays like “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four,” last week sent 45 notices of copyright termination to Marvel and Disney, as well as Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures, 20th Century Fox, Universal Pictures, and other companies that have been using the characters.
The notices expressed an intent to regain copyrights to some of Mr. Kirby’s creations as early as 2014, according to a statement disclosed on Sunday by Toberoff & Associates, a law firm in Los Angeles that helped win a court ruling last year returning a share of the copyright in Superman to heirs of one of the character’s creators, Jerome Siegel.
** Singer and actress Jill Scott (HBO's The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency) has just signed on to star in Lifetime's "Sin of the Mother". Based on the Carleen Rice novel "Orange Mint and Honey". The movie is described by Variety as focusing on a grad student who returns home to face her abusive, alcoholic mother only to discover that her mom is sober and has a 3-year-old daughter and new life. "Sins of the Mother" is due to premiere on the Lifetime Movie Network in 2010. Jill Scott is also appearing in Tyler Perry's "Why Did I Get Married Too?" in 2010. (Black Talent News)
** London Mayor Wants Museum Visitors to Pay. Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London said he had been impressed, during his visit to New York last week, with its semi-voluntary admission system. Although New York’s museums are officially free, each one has a range of entry fees and visitors are usually made to feel compelled to pay. Mr Johnson said he had no interest in coercing people, but felt that a similar system could work in London.
Free museums are considered one of the Britain’s biggest cultural attractions, particularly in London. Mr Johnson said that "cynical young people” had approached him and questioned the value of offering free museums. He said that if adults paid a voluntary fee, it would show youth the importance of the cultural institutions.
Mr. Johnson made his comments at the Victoria and Albert museum, in Kensington, West London, during a discussion with Kevin Spacey, the actor, and other cultural figures about the impact of the recession on the arts world. Mr. Spacey, artistic director of the Old Vic, warned that many arts institutions were suffering from reduced corporate donations and sponsorship deals during the economic downturn. He said: “I believe that, far from being a luxury in our lives, the arts and culture are a necessity. The creative industries lead the UK economy and are the envy of the world". (London Times)

The documentary, features an up-close and personal portrait of the self taught designer from his early beginnings as a homeless young boy in Ohio to the daily production routines and challenges faced leading up to the presentation of his Spring 2009 collection during New York’s infamous “Fashion Week”.

19 DVDs For the Comic Book Fan
Comic Books are filled with action-packed adventures and have continued to hold on to a huge fan base over the years (just look at the unbelievable success of Comic-Con and all the comic book inspired movies Hollywood keeps churning out). From brilliant animation to thrilling live-action, these films are sure to have you expecting the unexpected. These DVDs would also make a great gift for your comic book loving friend or family member.

What: The Art of Watchmen
The Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art – MoCCA proudly presents The Art of Watchmen. This exhibition looks at the many incarnations of the Watchmen universe: from Dave Gibbons' original character designs sketches, to the art from the acclaimed graphic novel to the stills from the highly anticipated film by Zack Snyder. The Art of Watchmen is curated by Peter Sanderson and Ellen S. Abramowitz.
On view will be photographs by Clay Enos of the Watchmen movie cast, Watchmen-related photos from director Zack Snyder's "war-room" and original artwork from the graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons. The Art of Watchmen explores the way in which the comics and cinema versions each combine fiction with reality to create an alternative universe that provides incisive commentary on our contemporary times. The exhibition will focus on visual iconography from Watchmen, primarily the main characters: The Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, Nite Owl, Ozymandias, Silk Spectre, and Rorschach. We will show how each character evolved, through artist Dave Gibbons’ concept sketches to their depiction in the comics culminating in their incarnations on screen.

Meet The New Disney Princess

Move over Snow White, make room for Princess Tiana.
For the first time, Disney is creating a film with an African-American princess, whose doll made its debut Monday at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.
For Disney, it's not just about being culturally and politically correct, it's also about growing its lucrative - but aging - Disney princess franchise in a tough economy. Created in 1999, Disney Princesses had $4 billion in global retail sales last year.
The cocoa-colored doll, which sports a tiara, a flowing blue gown, and is roughly the size of a Barbie, is expected to sell for about the same $10 to $15 as Barbie. Disney hopes it will boost the franchise through rough times. The $22-billion toy industry saw sales fall about 3% last year, and sales of dolls dropped a hefty 8%, according to the Toy Industry Association.
Though Princess Tiana was on the drawing board long before Barack Obama was elected the nation's first black president, marketing experts say she signals a growing awareness by industries from toy makers to cosmetic companies that diversity is critical in a nation where people of color will be the majority in little more than 30 years.
"It's very significant," says Lisa Skriloff, president of Multicultural Marketing Resources. "It's like a stamp of approval for one of the most outstanding family (entertainment) companies to say this is important."
Tiana, whose story will come to the big screen later this year in the animated musical "The Princess and the Frog," is the first princess introduced by Disney since "Mulan" in 1998.
Disney executives say that they did not set out to make a social statement.
"It was much more about the storytelling," says Kathy Franklin, vice president, global studio franchise development for Disney Consumer Products. "This was not about a conscious decision to say we need an African-American princess."
Yet, industry watchers say that when Princess Tiana dolls hit store in the fall, they will bring diversity to a marketplace where it's been sorely lacking.
Mattel, which has the license to create the Princess Tiana dolls, is planning to release its own line of black dolls in September. Part of the Barbie family, the So In Style dolls are being touted as having a more authentic appearance, from their hair to their varying skin tones.
Disney, which has had great success with its Princess franchise, predicts that sales will surge with the arrival of Tiana.
"We expect our sales of Princess Tiana products to be significant, and not just to African-American households," says Franklin.
Tiana merchandise will range from Halloween costumes to backpacks. There are plans for Tiana-themed MP3 players and digital cameras to be in stores by the end of the year, and a line of Princess Tiana and "The Princess and the Frog" books will go on sale this fall.

"Confessions of a Shopaholic", Will It be a Delight or a Disaster?

The New York Times Bestselling novel "Confessions of a Shopaholic" by Sophie Kinsella will be released in theatres next Friday, February 13th (just in time for Valentine's Day). The book centers around the main character Rebecca "Becky" Bloomwood's love of shopping that's hindered by her dread of the B-word....Bills. Becky seemingly has it all: a great apartment (which she shares with her best friend, Suze) in a trendy neighborhood, fabulous trendy friends, a closet full of the hottest clothes and a never-ending pile of bills. It's a funny and well written book that once you start reading you can't put down.
With hit Fashionable Female Movies like "Devil Wears Prada" (also a bestselling novel) and "Sex and the City" I can see how "Confessions of a Shopaholic" will fill that FFM void that's been missing from the box office. "Confessions" is much anticipated, however, some die-hard fans of the book series are voicing their unhappiness with the completion of this movie. Some of the most popular complaints they have are: 1) That Becky's not British, 2) The movie is set in NYC instead of London, and 3) Why did they Americanize the movie? From searching some of the blogs and message boards I have noticed that some of the die-hard fans think this movie will be terrible. As a fan of the book series, I was quite excited when I heard they were turning one of my favorite book's into a movie. However, I do feel like some of the Brit charm of the book is gone from the movie, but I will wait to state my opinion until after I've seen it.
Yes, the movie is a slight adaption of the book given they are still using the same characters and the general idea of the book but have changed a few things for their own reasons. For those who want to know about the fashion, Patrica Field is the stylist of this film. She also styled both "Sex and the City" and "Devil Wears Prada", so expect to spot a new trend in the movie.

Are There Too Many Comic Book Movies?

Is Hollywood over doing it with the comic book and graphic novel movie adaptations or are they just supplying a demand? Is this the new Hollywood cash cow? With the huge success of "Batman: The Dark Knight", "Sin City", "Iron Man", "V for Vendetta" and "Wanted"; Hollywood is hitting the comic book stores and are finding not just the most popular ones but also some that are obscure and forgotten. Even more movies in the works to be adapted to the screen including the upcoming "Sin City 2" and in December, "The Spirit" based on a popular graphic novel and Marvel's "Punisher: War Zone" will be out.
Marvel seems to be really churning out movies, they already had "The Incredible Hulk" and "Iron Man" out earlier this year and have announced a series of upcoming movies: "Spider-Man 4", "Iron Man 2" (2010) & 3, "The Avengers" (2011), "Thor" (2010), "Captain America" (2011), and "Ant Man" (2010). Plus, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" will also be gracing the screen next year and not surprisingly it already has a huge Internet following.
DC comics also has a huge list of films in the works with "Superman: Man of Steel" (2011), "Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam" (2011), "Jonah Hex" (2010), "The Flash" (2010), "Teen Titans" (2009), "Green Lantern" (2010), and also rumored Justice League and Wonder Woman movies. There is also the highly anticipated film "Watchmen" that hopefully will hit the theatres next year.
These movies are popular because they are full of action and visually stunning. A pro for making these movies for Hollywood is the built in fan base thus reducing the need for a large promotional budget. The budget will include advertising and promotion but mainly to promote to potential viewers who may not be familiar with the characters.
The comic book adaptions are not just limited to film. BET network has partnered with Marvel to create an animated series based on the character "The Black Panther". The CW network currently has the popular TV series "Smallville" although rumored to be nearing it's end and has announced a possible new show "The Graysons" based on a Batman character Richard "Dick" Grayson (Robin), but the show will take place pre-Batman. However, since the announcement of "The Graysons" it has been strongly opposed from bloggers, online forums posters and hardcore comic enthusiast calling it "the worst idea ever". The Cartoon network will premiere a new Batman cartoon "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" on Friday, Nov. 14th.
Hollywood does have a tendency to latch on to one thing until fans become tired of it and then move on to the next hot thing. Is the creativity in Hollywood lacking so much that they are focusing a great deal of time on comic books?

The House Bunny Movie Angers National Sorority
In a press release issued by the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority they have denounced "The House Bunny" movie. Unlike "Legally Blonde" this movie does not enhance the image of greek or sorority life. In the fictitious "Legally Blonde", Elle Woods is a member of Delta Nu which was loosely based on the Delta Zeta sorority (Pink & Green). Most in the Greek system can tell which colors represent which sororities and fraternities as they will do with this stupid "Bunny" movie. Plus, this movie seems quite similar to the movie "Sorority Boys".
Although I'm not a ZTA but as a member of a Greek organization no one wants their organization to be seen in a bad light. We love and respect them.

Zeta Tau Alpha Denounces “The House Bunny” Movie
INDIANAPOLIS—Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity for women expresses dismay that Columbia Pictures and Happy Madison Productions will release in August the feature film, “The House Bunny.”
This movie depicts a sorority called “Zeta Alpha Zeta” and refers to its members as “Zetas” and its facility as the “Zeta House.” The chapter house shown in the movie has the word “ZETA” above the door in turquoise, one of the official colors of the Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity.
The Fraternity is the exclusive owner of the registered trademarks Zeta Tau Alpha and the Greek letters ZTA, and has been consistently using the term Zeta and Zetas to conduct business for nearly 100 years. The Fraternity believes that the use of “ZETA” in the film is improper and confusingly similar to ZTA. Zeta Tau Alpha is working with legal counsel to explore its options.
“We regret that the production and distribution companies have chosen to release a movie that portrays collegiate fraternity and sorority life in an offensive and inaccurate manner,” said Zeta Tau Alpha National President Laura Ladewig Mauro. “We have written a letter of protest to both companies but have received no response.”
Zeta Tau Alpha was founded in 1898 at the State Female Normal School (now Longwood University) in Farmville, Va., and has 148 active collegiate chapters and more than 195,000 members worldwide. A member of the National Panhellenic Conference of Greek women’s organizations, ZTA develops members’ leadership, academic and service skills and supports breast cancer education and awareness as its national philanthropy.
