One to Watch: Bonnie Wright

by Style and Focus Lifestyle PR

Like most teenage girls, Bonnie Wright is into fashion, hanging out with friends and having a good time. But she's far from being an average teen, Ms. Wright will be starring in one of the most anticipated films to be released this year, "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince". Bonnie Wright plays the hugely popular character 'Ginny Weasley' and will again be at the center of attention with the upcoming movie. The film revolves around a subplot involving Ginny becoming Harry Potter's new love interest.

Although, Bonnie may be known mostly for her portrayal of the popular J.K. Rowling character, she has other acting credits to her name: she provided her voice for an episode of the popular Disney cartoon series "The Replacements" and made two TV movies: "Stranded" and "Agatha Christie: A Life in Pictures" in which she played a young Agatha Christie.

Besides starring in one of the hottest film and book series, Ms. Wright continues to stretch her acting skills by working on various accents including Australian. This UK native balances her hectic film schedule with school, sports, taking various dance classes, traveling and music not only listening but also playing various instruments including the piano.

Her acting skills are not the only thing that's getting noticed, it's her cool fashion and beauty sense as well, so much so that the 17-year-old has young girls copying her every style. From her hairstyles to what handbag she's carrying they want to have it.

Once the final Potter film wraps up I'm sure this talented young actress will have numerous competing film and TV offers.

One to Watch: Robert Pattinson

Robert Pattinson may be best known for his role as Cedric Diggory in "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire". However, since then he's landed the coveted role of Edward Cullen in the upcoming film "Twilight", which is based on the popular book series by author Stephenie Meyer.

As well as acting in movies, his experience includes theater work at the historic Barnes Theater Company and at the Old Sorting Office Arts Centre in London; and in television movies: "Ring of the Nibelungs", "Haunted Airman" and "The Bad Mother's Handbook" based on the novel by Kate Long.

Besides the anticipated film "Twilight", some of his other upcoming projects are: the short film"The Summer House" which is based on the novel by Ian Beck, "How to be" and "Little Ashes" where he plays the legendary artist Salvador Dali.

Pattinson is starting to get noticed for his acting skills and in 2005 he was named "British Star of Tomorrow" by The Times, one of Britain's oldest newspapers.

Despite being an up-and-coming actor, this UK native is also a model. He can be seen in the Fall/Winter 2007 campaign for Hackett luxury menswear (see pictures below). Pattinson's popularity is rapidly increasing and with the anticipation of the film "Twilight" his career will most likely soar.

One to Watch: Danneel Harris

(Photo Credit: both pictures from IMDb.com)

Elta Danneel Graul or professionally known as Danneel Harris is mostly known as the ultimate bad girl Rachel Gatina on "One Tree Hill". Harris joined the cast during the third season in 2005 and her character quickly became a fan favorite as the girl you love to hate.

Although she is on a hit show, Ms. Harris is relatively unknown to most but you may have recognized her from some of the following shows: "What I Like About You" which stars Amanda Bynes, Jennie Garth and Wesley Jonathan, she was on a few episodes of the second season, soap opera fans may also remember her as bad girl Shannon McBain on "One Life to Live", she also appeared on couple of episodes on the short lived series "Joey" and was most recently seen on an episode of "CSI" which aired in October.

Her acting experience isn't limited to TV, Danneel's professional debut began with the independent short film "The Plight of Clownana". She will be featured in a couple of upcoming movies: "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay" and "Ten Inch Hero" (will post trailer later) which features her "One Tree Hill" castmate Elisabeth Harnois, Clea DuVall, Jensen Ackles (CW's "Supernatural") and Sean Patrick Flanery (USA Network's "The Dead Zone").

Before she started acting, this Louisiana native use to model and some of the companies she worked with are Big Juicy Hair and Juicy Jeans. Now she can be seen modeling for KRMA Clothing. Danneel has also been featured on Maxim magazine's 2007 Hot 100 list as well as being featured on the November 2006 Maxim cover with OTH cast mates Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton.

Danneel may be known for playing a bad girl but unlike her character she likes to help out with charitable organizations. Some of the charities that she support are the James Lafferty/One Tree Hill Charity Basketball Game and The Gift of Sight.

Although she has a fast growing fan base she also has an equally fast growing hate fan base which generated from a rumor of her dating fellow CW Network actor and "Ten Inch Hero" co-star Jensen Ackles. I normally wouldn't want to highlight stupidity but this puts a focus on celebrity obsessions, because some of his fan base dislikes her not because of her acting but from a rumored relationship with him. I find that to be ridiculous that they choose to write rude and mean comments on various blogs and message boards about this young woman all because they don't like the fact that she's allegedly dating their favorite actor.

The only thing I see standing in her way is that she seems to get type-casted as the bad girl maybe with time she can expand her acting experience and get casted in different roles.

One to Watch: Sophia Bush

Although, Sophia's professional acting debut was in the 2002 cult hit "Van Wilder" starring Ryan Reynolds, Tara Reid and Kal Penn. Her career really took off after landing the role of Brooke Davis on the hugely successful hit show "One Tree Hill" in 2003. Prior to getting the role, Sophia attended the University of Southern California for three years and majored in Journalism with a Theatre minor.

With the popularity of "One Tree Hill" and her character, Sophia's career expanded into more films including the comedy "John Tucker Must Die" starring Jessie Metcalfe, Brittany Snow, Ashanti and Penn Badgley; horror film "Stay Alive" and this year's re-make of "The Hitcher". The fifth season of "One Tree Hill" premieres, January 8, 2008 on the CW Network at 8pm (check local listing). To insure your up-to-date, SOAPnet will air a 13 episode marathon from season 4, January 1st from 11:00am to midnight.

Ms. Bush is not just another pretty face in Hollywood, this California native continues to help out with various charities including the conflict in Darfur, American Red Cross, Clothes Off Our Back and working to protect the environment. She's definitely getting noticed by fans and the industry, she's already received awards for her roles for OTH, "John Tucker" and "The Hitcher".

Her popularity has soared each year, hopefully it will continue to grow. I actually got a chance to speak with her at an event and I found it refreshing that she wasn't taking the whole celebrity thing so seriously and instead is a positive young lady with a good head on her shoulders (which is needed especially now in this industry).

One to Watch: Jurnee Smollett

Jurnee Smollett will be starring in the much anticipated movie "The Debaters" based on the true life story of Melvin B. Tolson a professor at Wiley College in Texas. During 1935, Mr. Tolson encouraged his students to achieve the best by becoming the best debaters. The movie also stars Denzel Washington, Forest Whitaker, Kimberly Elise, Denzel Whitaker (no relations to Forest) and Nate Parker.

Although she is deemed a fresh new face, Ms. Smollett may be a familiar face to many because as a child star she was on several of the most popular family shows in the 90's such as "Full House" playing one of Michelle's (Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen) friends, "Hangin' with Mr. Cooper" and "Martin". In the mid 90's, she starred in her own show with her real life brothers and sister on the show "On Our Own". She later appeared on the following shows: "Cosby" starring Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Doug E. Doug, the late Madeline Kahn and T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh (who was also on "On Our Own" with Jurnee"), "Wanda at Large" starring comedian Wanda Sykes, Dale Godboldo and Phil Morris, and medical shows "ER", Lifetimes "Strong Medicine" and "House, M.D.".

Even though she was a working Television actor, this young actress has appeared in feature films including the hits: "Jack" starring Robin Williams, Bill Cosby, Jennifer Lopez, Diane Lane and Fran Drescher. "Eve's Bayou" starring Lynn Whitfield, Megan Good, Samuel L. Jackson and Debbie Morgan. "Roll Bounce" starring Shad Gregory Moss (better known as rapper Bow Wow), Chi McBride, Mike Epps, Marcus T. Paulk, Rick Gonzalez, Nick Cannon, Megan Good and Charlie Murphy. Last year's "Gridiron Gang" starring Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Xzibit.

Not only is she dedicated to her craft of acting she is also a philanthropist. According to Look to the stars.org, Jurnee has been active in supporting the efforts to combat HIV/AIDS causes since she was twelve, and she is also on the Board of Directors of Artists for a New South Africa.

I see her having a really successful career because she has a lot of talent.

One to Watch: Jessica Szohr

Jessica Szohr can currently be seen playing Vanessa on the hit series "Gossip Girl". Her character is Dan Humphrey's (played by Penn Badgley) best friend. Through she is relatively new to acting she has been on quite a few shows including popular shows such as Disney's "That's So Raven", Nickelodeon's "Drake and Josh", The WB's "What I like About You", and ABC's "My Wife and Kids".

Even though it was short lived series, Jessica was in a few episodes of the second season of "What about Brian" which starred Barry Watson (from 7th Heaven) playing his neighbor and potential love interest, Laura. But her two recurring roles on "Gossip Girl" and "CSI: Miami" are really getting her noticed by fans and insiders. On "CSI: Miami" she plays Samantha Barrish the new A.V. Tech Specialist. Szohr was also in the horror movie "Somebody Help Me" which starred Omarion Grandberry, Marques Houston, Christopher Jones and Alexis Fields.

Besides acting, this up-and-coming actress is also a model and has recently appeared in two music videos: Matt White's "Best Days" and American Idol alum Chris Daughtry's "Over You". Keep an eye on Jessica Szohr, she sure to become a household name.

One to Watch: Rick Gonzalez

Rick Gonzalez can currently be seen playing Ben on my new favorite show, Reaper on the CW Network. Ben is one of the lead character's friend and co-worker trying to capture and send escaped souls back to Hell. Gonzalez has been on quite a few popular TV shows including Boston Public, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, CSI: Miami and CSI.

Though he has a successful TV career, Gonzalez also has success in films including his first headlining role in this summer's Illegal Tender. He was also in the 2005 hit film Roll Bounce playing Naps with an outstanding cast featuring Shad Gregory Moss as lead (better known as rapper Bow Wow), Chi McBride, Mike Epps, Marcus T. Besides acting in TV and film, Gonzalez has also appeared in videos including 'Hope' by Twista & Faith Evan from the Coach Carter soundtrack. Back in 2000, he decided to move to Los Angeles to expand his career which worked because he has been acting steady since. According to IMDb, he has four upcoming film projects which will add to his ever growing resume.

One to Watch: Lance Gross

(photo credit: 1st and 2nd both from imdb.com)

Up-and-coming actor, Lance Gross can currently be seen starring as Calvin Payne on TBS's "Tyler Perry's House of Payne". Gross acting career began after graduating from Howard University in which he received his Bachelor of Arts in Theatre. To pursue his dream of acting, Gross decided to give up a chance of becoming a professional track and field athlete. His professional acting career began in 2006 with being featured in one episode each of "Eve" and "The Bernie Mac Show" but his breakout role is that of Calvin Payne.

To strengthen his acting skills, Gross has trained at both The Ivanna Chubbuck Studio and Tasha Smith Acting Studio. He actually got his big break after Tyler Perry attended one of Tasha Smith's acting classes and noticed Gross's acting skills which later resulted in Gross being considered for a role on House of Payne.

Besides acting, Gross is also a model and has appeared in music videos by Rihanna, Mariah Carey and Mary J. Blige. His next upcoming project will be the Tyler Perry film "Meet the Browns" which will be released in theaters in 2008.

One to Watch: Chace Crawford

Since the much hyped CW Network's "Gossip Girl" is premiering tonight I thought I would profile Christopher Chace Crawford (goes by Chace Crawford) as a One to Watch.

Starting tonight Crawford will be starring as Nate Archibald on "Gossip Girl" but unlike most Hollywood newcomers he didn't catch the spark for acting until much later. This Texas native orignally started out as a model which he continued even while attending Pepperdine University in California. It was while attending his second year of college that the interest of acting came about. Crawford also credits his mother for the initial encouragement for entering the entertainment industry.

Crawford's professional acting career began in 2006 with the Lifetime movie "Long Lost Son" starring USA Network's "Burn Notice" Gabrielle Anwar. The movie was about a mother (Anwar) who realizes 14 years later that the son (Crawford) and husband she believed to have drowned are still alive. Also, in 2006, he had his featured film debute in the late summer hit "The Covenant" which also starred Steven Strait, Taylor Kitsch, Toby Hemingway, Sebastian Stan, Jessica Lucas and Laura Ramsey.

Besides "Gossip Girl", Crawford has two upcoming projects, The first is the movie "Loaded" starring Jesse Metcalfe. Crawford will be playing Hayden Price" and the film also includes NBC's "Heroes" Jimmy Jean-Louis, Monica Keena, Krupt, Drew Fuller and Nicole Eggert. His second project, is director Mickey Liddell's debute independent film "She Lived", in which he will be starring as Joseph Young and also included are NBC's "Medium" Jake Weber and Haley Bennett (who was in the Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant hit "Music and Lyrics") .

In my opinion, after tonight he's going to be one of the new faces to watch and will probably wish he still had a little anonymity left. By tomorrow he will probably be "googled" by millions of teenage girls.

One to Watch: Erica Cerra

Erica Cerra can currently be seen starring as the tough and strict Deputy Josefina "Jo" Lupo on The Sci Fi channel's "Eureka". Although she's had other roles on popular shows such as "Battlestar Galactica", "Smallville", USA network's "The Dead Zone" and Showtimes "The L Word" her breakout role came from the hit show Eureka.

Her other acting credits include films "Man About Town" starring Ben Affleck and Rebecca Romijn and "Blade: Trinity" starring Wesley Snipes, Fox's "Prison Break" Dominic Purcell, Jessica Biel, Ryan Reynolds and Parker Posey.

To hone her acting skills, Erica has trained with top acting coaches Matthew Harrison, Larry Moss and Gina Chiarelli. This Vancouver native is known for her hard work, discipline, enthusiam for acting and a fun personality. Cerra's hard work has not gone unnoticed, in 2005, she was named one of Vancouver's five hottest up-and-coming actresses by "Vancouver Lifestyle Magazine".

I'm sure she will be seen in other projects in the upcoming future because she is a good actress in my opinion.

One to Watch: Steven Strait

Steven Strait's modeling career began when he was spoted at his local gym in his Manhattan neighborhood by John Babin an agent at Boss Models. He was also interested in acting and began taking acting lessons at the age of eleven, and at the age of thirteen he started to study theater and stage craft at the prestigious Stella Adler Studio and the Black Nexus Acting Studio both in New York City. While modeling, Strait has had the opportunity to work with top photographers such as Bruce Weber, Herb Ritts, Steven Klein and Tony Duran to name a few. While he continued to study acting and attending classes at his private high school, he made his professional acting debut back in 2001 on an episode of "Third Watch" playing a teenager in a flashback scene of one of the lead characters.

Like so many hopefuls, this Manhattan native moved to Los Angeles to further pursue his acting, singing and modeling career. In 2005, Strait appeared in two movies, his first was Disney's "Sky High" playing the broody pyrokinesis (fire starter) Warren Peace. He was also able to include a song "One Thing Leads To Another" on the Sky High soundtrack and the song could also be heard during one of the scenes in the movie.

In his second movie, he starred as lead character Luke Falcon, a struggling musician trying to find success in the music industry in "Undiscovered" which also starred Ashlee Simpson. Although it wasn't a huge success the movie did give viewers a chance to listen to Strait's vocal abilities. He wrote and preformed six songs in the movie which are included on the soundtrack. In 2006, he starred as Caleb Danvers in the supernatural movie "The Covenant" which also included Taylor Kitsch (NBC's "Friday Night Lights"), Chace Crawford (CW's "Gossip Girl"), Jessica Lucas and Laura Ramsey (both from "She's the Man").

Even though he is mostly known more by teenage girls from his previous movie roles, his next movie, Roland Emmerich's prehistoric epic "10,000 B.C." may change all of that. The movie is about a young mammoth hunter's (Strait) journey through uncharted territory to secure the future of his tribe. This movie is scheduled to be released March 7, 2008.

Some of Strait's other endeavours include being lead singer and song writer for his band, Tribe. Although he is busy with singing and acting, he still continues to model and it's reported that he has been signed to campaignes for Harlequin and Hollister Co. Recently he was featured in the September issue of Vanity Fair Magazine for the feature on "Hollywood's Next Gen-Men", other magazines he has appeared in include: FLAUNT, L’Uomo Vogue, Spoon Magazine, Details, Surface Magazine and Pop Magazine.

I think he will have a good career in all three industries because he's obviously making it work right now without any young Hollywood scandals.

Even though she was added to the third season, her character quickly became a fan favorite.
