Reduce Your Risk of Cancer by Taking a Break from Happy Hour

Taking a break from alcohol can reduce your cancer risk according to a study in the American Journal of Epidemiology. The theory according to researchers is that daily exposure to acetaldehyde, a chemical byproduct of alcohol, promotes cancer. They found that taking a break from alcohol a few days a week may neutralize the negative effects of heavy drinking.

To lower your risk, don't hit up happy hour everyday or go out drinking every night. Just go maybe a couple times a week and limit yourself to no more than one drink per day, the recommended number by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.
