Style and Focus News Bites: Books, Causes, Celebs and Fashion

** HELPING CHILDREN IN POVERTY: New book to give ten percent of proceeds to mission. Judson Press has released "Hope for Children in Poverty: Profiles and Possibilities." Ten percent of proceeds from sales of this book will go to the Children in Poverty Initiative of National Ministries, American Baptist Churches USA. Suggested Retail Price: $16.00

** GUESS Clothes to be Fur Free. Guess Inc have announced that they will cease purchasing fur for their denim and sportswear lines as of September 1, 2007. Guess will now use faux fur in their designs.

** According to the Telegraph, Kate Middleton tops Tatler’s “most wanted" list. Tatler's is Britain's most stylish and indispensable society guide. Middleton is currently the most sought-after party guest in the UK.

** "CSI:NY's" Hill Harper signed a two-book deal after the succes of his first book "Letters to a Young Brother: Manifest Your Destiny", which is a motivational book aimed at young Black men. The book was listed among the Top 10 Best Non-Fiction Books for Young Adults 2007 by the Young Adult Library Services Association, which is a division of the American Library association.

Harper plans to release a second book, "Letters to a Young Sister" in June 2008. The reason for creating the second book is " I got so many e-mails and letters asking me, why didn't I write a book for young women...Success isn't race or gender specific. In this book, I will use examples, metaphors and analogy that will hopefully resonate with young women. But beyond that I'm going to have a lot of female contributors."

** Ewan McGregor just signed on to be the new face of a new Davidoff men’s fragrance(WWD).

** Stella McCartney has created a limited-edition racerback tanks for the Glastonbury music festival (see picture). "The t-shirt is inspired by all the airbrushing my mum and dad used to get made in the ’70s,” said McCartney.
