Nuçi Philip Memorial Foundation: Nuçi's Space

A non-profit organization that is worth supporting is the Nuçi Philip Memorial Foundation: Nuçi's Space. So from time to time I will update you with different events or information about this organization.

Nuçi's Space is a non-profit organization that offers support and resources for musicians in Athens, Georgia. It was founded in memory of 22-year old musician Nuçi Phillips who took his own life in 1996 after battling major depression.

The aim of the organization is to prevent suicide by providing obstacle free treatment for musicians suffering from depression and other such disorders as well as to assist in the emotional, physical and professional well-being of musicians. Also available, are career and health workshops which are conducted along with other topics of interest.

Nuçi's Space also provides:
* Low cost mental health counseling referral service
* Opportunities to educate and destigmatize mental illness not only in the music community but in the community as a whole
* Volunteer physicians to treat minor illnesses of uninsured musicians
* Support groups
* Music and self-help library
* Inexpensive rehearsal facilities
* Performance area
* Coffee lounge

Nuçi's Space provides a stable and caring environment for those in need. The center has a staff of four musicians, under the guidance of founder Linda Phillips. Nuçi's Space is unique because of its simplicity and effectiveness.
