Milestone Birthday Party for my Mom

Yesterday was my mom's birthday. It was a milestone birthday. I wanted to do something special for her but like most moms she's a self-less giver.

I decided to plan her a low key sit down dinner at home (her request). My dad took her to the flower garden as a little diversion so I could get everything set up.

The menu:
Drinks: Lemon-Thyme Martini and Champagne
Hors d'oeuvres: Crudites with Olive Oil and Prosciutto wrapped Bread Sticks
1st Course: Shrimp & Sugar Snap Saute with Garlic Toasts
2nd Course: Sliced Steak with Shaved Parmesan on Arugula
Dessert: Individual Chocolate Souffle with Vanilla Ice Cream

The Decor:
Various citrus colored flowers around the dining room and at the center of the table. Votive candles, flowers and various pictures of my mom placed around the living room.

I think my mom had a great time and it felt good planning a party for a person that means a lot to me.

Oooh LG, could you please send me (or post whatever is easiest) the lemon thyme martini recipe. That sounds so refreshing!
