Will the recall on Peter Pan Peanut Butter hurt the brand?

by Lifestyle Guru

It will depend on how the customers will perceive the product and the handling of the recall. Image is very powerful and if customer's think that a product is not safe, they may decided not to make any more future purchases at least for short time.

I think Peter Pan Peanut Butter might suffer a little because of the scare and risk of salmonella. Jiff and Skippy Peanut Butters may gain a few new customers. It will be interesting to see how this plays out in future sales.

What do you think? If you purchase Peter Pan Peanut Butter will you continue?

Looks like I am forced to switch brands. I can't find Peter Pan brand anywhere. It seems that there was only one plant in the entire world that made Peter Pan brand, and that is the one associated with the recall of all products since 2004. So in the absence of Peter Pan, if I want peanut butter, I have to get it somewhere else apparently.

I think they won't be able to come back from this financially. They are not making any money in sales, the recall is probably costing a lot of money, then there's the pending lawsuits. I think maybe someone will produce the recipe, but it will be someone else. My feeling is Peter Pan Peanut Butter is probably dead and gone forever.

Only time will tell if Peter Pan can make a comeback. They need to show that their plants are safe and that this type of problem will not happen again.
