Style and Focus Weekend: End of Summer Beauty Bootcamp

Now that summer is winding down this is a perfect time to take care of any beauty areas that may have taken a beating or you may have neglected. You want to look fresh and beautiful not tired and dull.

With all the late nights, summer parties and outdoor activities, it's all bound to take a toll on you. To recapture your baby soft skin and touchable tresses take the weekend to catch up on your Beauty Maintenance. This will give you time to tend to any neglected beauty areas such as your nails or hair.

Start by creating a glam plan with a grooming list (sample list below). Don't forget to add extra sleep to the list. Then gather up all your beauty products and tools. No beauty products on hand go to the store and stock up on what you need or to try a new product. To add the spa like feel place your products in a wicker basket with a rolled up towel.

Sample Grooming List

Which areas need the most attention?

Hair
- dye
- deep conditioner
- trim (professional)

Face/Body
- exfoliation
- moisturize
- skin care (acne, face mask, etc)
- unwanted hair

Nails
- manicure
- pedicure

Keep it simple and don't try to do everything in one day. Take the whole weekend to unwind, relax and pamper yourself. Some areas in your beauty maintenance may need to be handled by a professional so book ahead perhaps for during the week or next weekend for waxing, hair cuts and trims, etc.

Try turning the weekend into a spa retreat by fixing a pitcher of water with lemons and limes, a soft robe and slippers. Play relaxing music, light candles and no phone calls (that's what voice mail is for).

A+ Office Supplies

I guess it's this time of the year that make me want to update my office supplies. From pens to office furniture I like to change it up a bit but still keep them smart. Who says office supplies have to be basic and boring. Show off your personality and still keep it professional by adding lots of colors and patterns or go the sophisticated route with stainless steel or silver supplies.

Women Safety Tips: My Own 10 Tips

I love to go out and have fun but I know that I also want to stay safe while at home or out. Some tips that I like to use are:

1. Don't drink to get drunk: You want to be alert and able to think or act if need be. Plus it's so embarrassing to be the "drunk girl". Even if that was your nickname in college do you still want it.

2. When going out with friends let the group know if you're leaving or going somewhere else.

3. Although it's common sense, but don't give out too much personal information when meeting someone for the first time.

4. When paying for those new pair of shoes be aware of someone holding a cell phone they may be trying to take a picture of your credit card number.

5. On a first date, arrange to meet in a well known place. Even though you're an adult you can still let friends/family know where you're going and your date's name. Just in case.

6. When leaving a nightclub or party be aware of anyone following you. Don't go directly home if driving, go to the nearest police station and report it. If walking, stop by all night restaurant or any other business and call the police.

7. If living alone, get to know you're neighors and if possible get a medium to large size dog (but make sure it will fit into your lifestyle) for added protection.

8. Now that you have your own place, you want to outfit it but don't let potential thieves know that you just purchased a new flat screen TV or any other big ticket item. Break up the boxes and put them in trash bags.

9. When leaving to go to work or out at night make sure all doors and windows are locked and secured and set alarm system if you have one.

10. Change up your routine. Try working out at a different time or running errands on a different days. So your routine doesn't become too easy to for someone to follow.

More Posts Tomorrow

I hope everyone had a fun Labor Day. It was great to sit back and relax.

Sorry it's been a while since I posted, hate to state the cliched "I was busy" but I was. The fall TV season has just started and I really like the new show "Raising the Bar" on TNT, which centers on a group of lawyers. It premiered last night and I thought it was really good. Can't wait for next Monday's episode.

More Posts Tomorrow.
